A small signed oil painting on hardboard by Emily Edwards of a barn at night set behind large snowdrifts and trees in the foreground and background. The barn door is open and has what appears to be a warm glow of a lantern inside. The painting is housed in a wood frame and the back of the painting has the following written in ink: "To Paul A. Vaughan December 1972 "Shelter Waiting" by Emily V. Edwards." The condition of the painting is pristine; however there are two noticeable chips to the wood frame.
The paintings, watercolors, pictures and prints sold at Mateland's all have something in common--they are unique and/or original. We have a special affinity for self-taught artists and "Outsider Art" and see great potential in art that, with the simple changing of a frame, can be rejuvenated and incorporated into modern settings. If you'd like to have any additional photographs taken or even a video, we'd be happy to do that for you.
