Seamus Heaney Selected Poems 1966-1987, is a 273-page softcover published in 1990 by The Noonday Press, Farrar, Straus and Giroux (New York). This copy is the fourth printing of 1995. The condition is very good, with crisp clean unmarked pages and a tight binding with no creases to the spine.
This selection has been made by Seamus Heaney from the volumes of his poems and translations published during the first twenty-one years of his career. It includes the complete, slightly revised version of his long poem "Station Island," as well as a number of prose poems previously unpublished in this country. His much admired sonnet sequences, "Glanmore Sonnets" and "Clearances," are also reprinted here in their entirety.
Seamus Heaney was born in County Derry in Northern Ireland. A resident of Dublin, He spent part of each year teaching at Harvard University (he died in 2013). He was a member of the Irish Academy of Arts and Letters and has been the recipient of many honors and awards for his poetry. In 1989, Mr. Heaney was elected Professor of Poetry at Oxford University.
