A hand painted round handled bowl with beautifully painted walnuts, filberts, peanuts, and almonds in their shells with fall foliage background in soothing shades of golds, browns, and tans by Pickard China. The rim of the 7" wide bowl is painted in a gilded scroll design on a cream colored background that fades into a brown footed and rimmed base which is marked "Noritake Nippon" "W Pickard A Handpainted China" and a faded paper sticker that is missing half. The bowl is signed by the artist Jeremiah "Vokral" and the condition is excellent, with no chips or cracks, and with only a small no-show area of crazing to the glazed bottom.
Wilder Pickard founded Pickard China Company in 1893. Initially, the company was known for its beautiful handpainted art pottery painted by artists from all over the world on blank china pieces bought from other manufacturers. Eventually Pickard created its own line of china known for its "lightness and delicacy, unusual strength and brilliant glaze" and is still in operation to this day.
