A fired on orange over milk glass bowl from McKee Glass Company. The bowl measures 6" wide across the rim, 4 1/2" wide across the base, and is 4 1/4" high. The bottom is impressed with "McK" standing for McKee Glass Company. The condition is very good.
Five brothers were involved in the creation of several glass companies starting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1834. In 1903 the various companies were restructured to form The McKee Glass Company in Jeanette, Pennsylvania. McKee produced pressed glass, milk glass, and glass for windows. McKee operated for decades until it was purchased by the Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company and later the Jeannette Glass Company. Operations ceased in 1983.
